Sliding glass doors in Tangier

A view of the strait, the bay or the garden: in Tangier, a large sliding door adds value to a home as long as it holds up against the wind. We check the frame’s stiffness and tightness before giving you a price.

What we do in Tangier

Large sliding doors that open the house onto the terrace, the garden or the sea, with very slim frames.

A sliding door replaces a section of wall with glass. The larger it is, the more the choice of system matters: frame stiffness, glazing, wind tightness. We offer minimalist systems (Strugal) and high-performance systems for exposed facades (Exlabesa).

What you gain

  • Plenty of natural light
  • Slim frames for an unobstructed view
  • Systems suited to large dimensions and exposed facades
Technical details— for professionals and the curious
Minimalist joinery
Very slim profiles that reduce the visible part of the frame in favour of the glazing.
Sliding with thermal break
A sliding door whose frame includes an insulating strip, to better insulate against cold and heat.
Profile inertia
The stiffness of the profile against bending: essential so that a large opening doesn’t deform.

Why GMT Design in Tangier

Tangier sits at the entrance to the Strait of Gibraltar: the east wind (the Chergui), sea air and humidity are present all year round. On the hills such as Marchan, Malabata or the Cap Spartel road, exposure to wind and sea spray is strong; in the city centre, it is street noise that weighs most. The right choice of profile (the aluminium frame), glazing and treatment depends on that exposure, not only on the style you are after.

What we take into account in Tangier

  • Strong exposure to the east wind and sea spray on the city’s hills
  • Acoustic glazing worth considering near the main roads of the city centre
  • Marine anti-corrosion treatment and A4 stainless fixings as standard

Frequently asked questions

Which joinery should I choose against the east wind in Tangier?

A reinforced profile, calculated for the exposure of your home (upper floors and hillside sites are the most exposed), with a marine anti-corrosion treatment, durable seals and suitable glazing. We size everything during the study.

What is the maximum width for a sliding door?

It depends on the system chosen and on wind exposure. We check feasibility during the study, before pricing.

Does a large glass door insulate against noise and heat?

Yes, provided the glazing and the system are well chosen. Acoustic laminated glass (two panes bonded around a noise-absorbing film) and a frame with a thermal break clearly improve comfort. We advise you according to the exposure of your home in Tangier.

How much does a sliding door cost?

Ballpark: around 2,700 DH/m² incl. VAT installed for the Strugal S90P system, around 3,600 DH/m² incl. VAT for the S88RP with thermal break. Adjusted for configuration, glazing and site access.

Can it be installed as a renovation?

Yes, we also replace existing openings, including in occupied buildings.
